Description
Banana taxonomy isn’t something we thought we’d ever spend any amount of time researching, different species of banana are used all over the world and for different purposes. However, the conventional bananas that we all know and love tend to belong to the genus, ‘Musa’. Bananas from this genus hail from Australia and much of South/ Southeast Asia. It is reported that domestication of the fruit first took place in Papua New Guinea, nowadays, the fruit is grown in upwards of 130 countries.
